Palacio Mundo Imperial is a big, design-led resort in Acapulco's Diamond Zone, close to Juan N. Álvarez International Airport. Five outdoor pools, a wave pool for families and an adults-only pool spread out below the rooms, and Scala Ocean Club, an open-air beach club, looks out over Playa Bonfil and the Acapulco sunset.

There are 814 pet-friendly rooms and suites with views of the Pacific and private balconies. Superior rooms of 377 sq ft have marble floors and a king bed, and the range climbs through Deluxe, Club 89, Junior Suites and Master Suites to Penthouse and Suite Imperial.

Dining is varied. Mizumi mixes Asian and Mexican cooking, Carnivore serves cuts of meat, A Roma does Italian, and Mexkalli cooks traditional Mexican. Marché lays out the international breakfast buffet from an open kitchen, and Club 89 Lounge, Blu and Serenity cover drinks.
The ELAN spa has Balinese-style treatments, tennis courts sit where the Acapulco Tennis Open is held, and guests can play the Princess and Turtle Dunes golf courses. The @Play programme looks after children over four, and a nightly show runs at the Il Duomo outdoor amphitheater.
It suits families, groups and couples who want a large resort with nightlife and a beach club.
