Infinity pools blend with the colour of the sea, and the children's pools have slides. The RIU Land kids' club has activities designed for children, while adults get a daytime program and nightly shows. Spa treatments are offered on the beach. The gym is free, and RIU Party themed nights happen at the Hotel Riu Tequila for guests of all the RIU hotels in Playa del Carmen.
Rooms are junior suites, 35 square metres with a balcony or terrace, a bathtub and shower, air conditioning and an in-room safe. Garden-view and connecting versions suit families. Elite Club by RIU rooms are for guests over 18: a Superior Jr. Suite, a Jr. Suite ocean view and a 66 square metre Suite.
Eight restaurants cover the range. Don Rafael is the main buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with live cooking, two special nights a week and a terrace with sea views. Il Portico is Italian, with a buffet at lunch and a menu at dinner. Yashima does Japanese, Krystal is fusion, and Agave is Mexican with a buffet of appetisers and desserts. Chilis serves brunch-style buffets and snacks that become a steakhouse at night. Pepe's Food is the buffet with a terrace, and the Elite Club restaurant is the romantic a la carte option for Elite Club guests.
It suits families who want Playacar beach days and kids' facilities, and couples who book the Elite Club.
